ACUPRESSURE - Traditional
$75 for 60 minutes

A highly skilled Massage Therapist can use acupressure trigger points to release tension, increase the circulation of blood, and heighten the body's life force energy to aid healing. Acupuncture and acupressure use the same healing pressure points, but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure therapy uses gentle but firm finger pressure. Advantages of integrating Massage Therapy with acupressure trigger points include relieving pain, trauma, burnout, backaches, headaches, insomnia and maintaining good health through self-care. By relaxing the body and relieving stress, acupressure strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness.

Tension tends to accumulate around massage therapy points. When a muscle is chronically tense or in spasm, the muscle fibers contract due to the secretion of lactic acid caused by fatigue, trauma, stress, chemical imbalances, or poor circulation. For instance, when you are under stress you may breath shallowly. Acupressure points relieve chest tension and enable you to breathe deeply.

As a massage therapy pressure point is held, the muscle tension yields to the finger pressure, enabling the fibers to elongate and relax, blood to flow freely, and toxins to be released and eliminated. Increased circulation also brings more oxygen and other nutrients to affected areas. This increases the body's resistance to illness and promotes a longer, healthier, more vital life. When the blood and bio-electrical energy circulate properly, we have a greater sense of harmony and well-being.

There are several different kinds of acupressure and Chinese Massage (Tui Na or Tuina) currently practiced throughout Asia, all of which use the same healing points. Varying rhythms, pressures, and techniques create different styles of acupressure, just as different forms of music use the same notes but combine them in distinctive ways. Shiatsu, for instance, the most well-known style of acupressure, can be quite vigorous, with firm pressure applied to each point for only three to five seconds. Jin Shin acupressure gently holds each point for a minute or more. Pressing with an intermittent, fast beat is stimulating; a slower pressure creates a deeply relaxing effect on the body.

ACUPRESSURE - Light Stream™ Tachyon Energy Gem Laser
$60 for 30 minutes
$90 for 45 minutes
$120 for 60 minutes

This is state-of-the-art technology, using gem stones, chromatic therapy and laser light to stimulate and balance the same points and meridians and chakras as the traditional acupressure points but utilizing the Energy Gem Laser. When a laser goes through a gem it excites the electrons in the gem and the qualities in the gem stones are released into the acupoints and meridians or chakras. The gem starts to vibrate very intensely into the acupuncture point. These are made for therapeutic use and can be done quickly and comfortably without needles or pain. Essential oils can also be added to a session if desired. The client is left with a sensation of deep relaxation and well-being.

REFLEXOLOGY
$75.00 for 60 minutes

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet. Reflexology treatments have been known to relieve pain, stimulate and rejuvenate organs and systems in need of support, release uric acid crystals in the feet and open blockages throughout the body. Reflexology has been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression, poor circulation, pain and inflammation, and repair of injuries.

DEEP TISSUE THERAPY
$90.00 for 60 minutes / $135.00 for 90 minutes - Bamboo Massage
$90.00 for 60 minutes / $135.00 for 90 minutes - Neuromuscular Therapy
$100.00 for 30 minutes / $200.00 for 60 minutes - Advanced Muscle Reconditioning

Deep Tissue Therapy is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

In these various techniques, I may use my hands or massage tools to accomplish the goal of rehabilitating an area of concern, but I do not use knuckles, elbows, or trigger points. Although Bamboo Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy and Advanced Muscle Reconditioning are not the typical deep tissue massage that people are accustomed to, they all work through layers of knots, spasms, and tension in the muscles. They each have a very important place in relieving pain and restoring ease of movement, flexibility and tone to muscles. There are certain instances where one or more of these techniques may be utilized in a session, depending on the condition.

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE THERAPY
$90.00 for 60 minutes

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (MLD) was developed by Emil Vodder in the 1930's in Europe. It is the standard technique used in many of the spas and clinics in Europe. It was orininally developed to help Euopeans from the northen, damp climates who suffered from colds, sinus and respiratory conditions as well as arthritic complaints brought on by these damp conditions.

The lymphatic system is closely related to the circulatory system. After the lymph has been drained through the MLD therapy, it recirculates back into the circulatory system. MLD massage picks up dead cells, virus and bacteria and other foreign substances. Today it is used worldwide as a natural facelift, to alleviate headaches, sinus and allergy conditions, to strengthen and enhance the immune system, deminish scar tissue and adhesions from acne, surgical procedures, tummy tucks, breast implants, liposuction, mastectomy, edema, burns or wounds. It is a widely used method for losing inches, cellulite reduction and assisting weight loss and is a helpful adjunct to any detoxification or tissue cleansing program.

MLD gently and rhythmically moves the lymph, excess fluids, and waste through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, MLD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and strengthened resistance to illness.

Contraindications: Not recommended for those who have low blood pressure, hyperthyroid (overactive), cardiac patients and cancer patients who are currently undergoing treatment (please check with your doctor or health care professional to make sure that you have clearance to receive MLD).

Cheryl Vasquez is a Certified Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage therapist receiving her training at the Vodder center in Walchsee, Austria and in the U.S. and has been practicing this method for almost 30 years.

SPINAL TOUCH THERAPY
Body Mechanics Technique or The Spinal Touch Treatment™
$75.00 for 60 minutes

A soft tissue, non-force system to correct postural distortion and visceral positions that might be inducing the disease process, and disorder function. A technique used by many professionals as well as massage therapists. This technique was developed by a chiropractor, mechanical, and structural engineer in the late 1920's; this technique has been used by Dr. W. La Mar Rosquist D.C. for 36 years with astounding results.

The Spinal Touch Treatment™  is an amazing technique for correction of chronic and acute pain. It is a soft tissue, non-force system for the detection and correction of postural and visceral distortions that may be inducing the dis-ease process, and disorder function. The technique has been used by many professionals like chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapists. It is safe in its application for all ages of patients or clients.

Posture Is The Key To Health

One of the most neglected and least understood keys to ones total health is the role in which posture plays in longevity, aging and better health. In the body, there are two primary curves and two secondary curves when looking from the side. The thoracic and pelvic curves are primary curves because they alone are present during fetal life. The cervical and lumbar curves are secondary curves, and are developed after birth.

At birth these curves are normal, but as we grow they start to lose their primary position. Many things can cause this to happen: falls, stress, slumping, poor mattresses, and accidents, lack of exercise, poor diet, malnutrition and gravity. If this lack of normal postural integrity continues, then compensating changes start taking place in the full spine, and the delicate systems of the body are changed. These changes will also affect the rest of the body, as the body works as a harmonious structure closely affecting every cell and organ system in the same way. The Spinal Touch Treatment™  can assist in the correcting of these distortions and brings the body back into balance. Once balanced, the body is relieved of pain and dis-ease.

CHAKRA BALANCING
$75.00 for 60 minutes

There are 7 major chakra energy centers of the body. When these centers are in balance, we experience a feeling of well-being and they are thought to have a positive effect on our physical, mental and emotional health, since these centers can also influence systems, emotions and organs. There are many ways to restore balance to the chakra system: aroma therapy oils, placing stones/crystals on the body, using color, directing chi or energy into these centers or the use of sound. Although I have used one or more of these from time to time, I find that using sound leaves the client with a feeling of relaxation and a release of tension that has been held in the body. I use either tuning forks whose sound combinations resonate with each chakra or Tibetan singing bowls which create a serenity that makes one forget about the hustle-bustle of the outside world.

TIBETAN ENERGY THERAPY
$75.00 for 60 minutes

The Tibetans have long used as part of their health care system healing techniques such as tantras, herbs, flowers, vitality exercises, and acupuncture. There are four main energy methods used in this modality to enhance the flow of chi to subsidiary energy pathways and are extremely powerful energy corrections which can be used to balance the energy of other systems in the body. The therapist looks for disturbances in the energy pathways by by scanning the client's body, section by section, finding where there are disruptions in their energy field through muscle testing. Muscle testing will show imbalances in the body;s electrical system. It will help identify the stressor, locate the body energy pathways under stress, help to find if the relief technique has been successful and anchor in the positive change. If there are disturbances, the client will complain of feeling fatigues, spaced out, off center. They may experience clumsiness, learning disorders, impaired vision, impaired hearing, vague pain, joint swelling, emotional sensitivity. It could be brought on by chemical stress from food or environment, structural stress from the way we use our bodies, psychological stress from the way we think or feel, Then moving the energy in the direction that rebalances and supports that area of the body. It is actually quite holistic since it works on body, mind and spirit. I may use this technique first before actually doing body work if a person is in too much pain to be physically touched. This diminishes pain and inflammation, and it also creates a sense of relaxation and peace.
